The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) showcase programme is designed to provide performance opportunities and support to new and emerging folk artists, as well as more established folk artists.
Emerging artists are showcased through EFDSS’ Folk Rising programme, now in its fourth year at Cecil Sharp House and expanding across England through partnership with festivals, venues and other promoters.
For more experienced artists EFDSS aims to support expansion into new markets, particularly internationally. While many English folk artists have created successful international touring circuits for themselves, as a musical genre English folk still lags behind its more exportable Celtic cousins. For this reason we are exploring a variety of ways to assist artists, to break in to new touring territories, which includes showcase platforms.
