Reached the river soon after 10 & dropped anchor opposite the dock at about 11. We couldn’t tie up because space occupied by troopships. It took a long time to get off as the Alien Agent very particular about pass ports etc. Eventually landed in a tug about 1.30. Found Constance awaiting me. Getting luggage landed & through the Customs took such a long time that we missed the 4.5 train & caught the 5.20. Maud met us at Euston & came down with us to Uxbridge by the 11 train — just missed the 10 by a minute. Awfully tired — completely done up, but glad to be home.Location
