We want to ensure a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment at all activities presented by the English Folk Dance and Song Society wherever they occur – at Cecil Sharp House, online, or elsewhere.
We expect everyone participating in our activities, or visiting Cecil Sharp House, to respect staff, and fellow visitors and participants.
We will not tolerate aggressive, discriminatory, disruptive, harassing or offensive behaviour.
If you witness or experience behaviour you are uncomfortable with, please speak to, or contact, a member of staff who will ensure that this is dealt with and followed up appropriately.
We reserve the right to take action if we believe any individual is not acting in an appropriate manner or complying with the above terms – this includes refusing admission to the venue or activity, or asking people to leave the premises or activity, and taking appropriate action to enforce this.
We believe everyone participating in folk music, dance or other arts should be able to do so safely and without fear of oppression or abuse.
We work to promote best practice in safeguarding.
If you organise folk arts events you are welcome to adapt our policies when creating safeguarding policies for your own activities, although bear in mind it is essential that each group or organisation creates its own policies based on its unique situation.
