At the English Folk Dance and Song Society we work in partnership to provide showcase performance opportunities for artists.
Our current partnerships are with Sidmouth Folk Week and Stage4Beverley.
Showcases are usually offered to new and emerging artists, more established artists developing new projects and, where possible and appropriate, to those artists undertaking creative development through our Creative Bursary Programme. Programme decisions are made jointly with partner organisations.
We also support New Roots St Albans Programme for Young Artists.

We were pleased to present three artists at English Folk Expo in Manchester in October 2022:
– Oliver Cross and Eleanor Servanté
– Marie Bashiru
– Owen Spafford and Louis Campbell.
Katy Spicer, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, said: ‘As a founding partner of EFEx, EFDSS is delighted to be showcasing artists alongside the main EFEx/Manchester Folk Festival programme. We focus on emerging artists, and artists who are developing a new band or forging a solo career, or developing a new sound. Our showcase at English Folk Expo is a strand of EFDSS’ Artists’ Development Programme which also includes the Alan James Creative Bursary programme and showcase platforms at Sidmouth Folk Festival and Stage4Beverley Festival.’
