Professional development is a vital part of equipping current and future educators with the skills and confidence to deliver high quality folk music, dance, drama and other arts in formal education and informal learning contexts.
We offer a range of professional development opportunities – often in partnership with others – for teachers, educators and artists to develop their skills in folk arts education and participation. These include our Folk Education Network and:
- INSET sessions in schools
- Training workshops, events and courses
- Conferences and seminars
In the past few years we've delivered workshops at conferences around the country, for and with several Music Education Hubs and music organisations including Cumbria Music Service, Hampshire Music Service, Surrey Arts, Tri-borough Music Hub, SoundCity Brighton and Hove Music Education Hub, and Sound Connections.
EFDSS led an interactive Ceilidh Band workshop which was then performed with every delegate in a massed finale ceilidh – it was a great way to end the day and highlighted the engaging and accessible approach to the genre
