Work Experience
Each year we are able to offer a few work experience placements for young people aged 14 to 18 years old (School Years 10–13), or for disabled young people up to 24 years of age.
It’s been a rewarding, informative and, most of all, fun week. I’ve truly enjoyed being part of your crew, albeit remotely, and would love to actually take part in real life sometime in the future.

Placements are usually for one or two weeks and offered in June or July.

Interest is high, and we prioritise:
- Young people with an active interest in folk – from across England and wider UK
- Young people who live or study in Camden with an interest in arts or heritage
- Disabled young people
Young people will typically spend time with each department and learn more about how an arts venue and cultural organisation works. This may include time with our Education, Library, Marketing and Operations teams, among other areas of our work.
You may be asked to work outside standard office hours, for example for events in the evening or at the weekend. This is so you get the most out of your placement and experience a range of our activities.
If you want to apply, please download the form (available below) and send it by email to [email protected]
Your application will be processed as quickly as possible, and someone will contact you to let you know if you have been successful. Once a place has been offered you will be asked to arrange a reference letter from your school, college or parent / guardian depending on the circumstances of the work experience.
Unfortunately we cannot offer places to all applicants.

Work experience at Cecil Sharp House was very enjoyable! I was not only able to see what it is like in the real working world but also able to meet new people, further my social skills and also just have a great time! I recommend it to anyone wanting to have an insight into the working world, who is passionate about music, dancing or just wants to have a lovely time!
