Bursaries 2023/24
Satnam Galsian and Maddie Morris
‘We used our bursary to fund research time and creative time towards this project. We also used part of the funding for a trip to visit Cecil Sharp House, to use the library and facilities for practice. We’ve talked about working together for a very long time, and it’s been really wonderful to finally get the opportunity thanks to this funding.’
Tarren
‘This residency has afforded us the time to research, immerse and create. We were able to use our time to create the final four tracks to our second album, one of which is a song celebrating gender diversity and the disruption of traditional gender roles.’
The Rheingans Sisters
‘We had a really productive time on our residency-week at Cecil Sharp House and over five days came up with lots of new music arrangements and a new stage layout which feels fresh and fun and is influencing the musical and artistic possibilies of our new album and show.’
Rowan Sawday AKA Dizraeli
‘This funding has been indispensable in the development of this project which I believe could be a really important step in my career.’
Femi Oriogun-Williams
‘The bursary allowed me finances and space to develop my work. I really enjoyed being given the space at Cecil Sharp House.’
Borges Machado
‘We used the money to give ourselves time and space to create a new show (maybe album as well) experimenting new ways of making music. We really appreciate the opportunity to be showing how folk music/culture can have a broad meaning.’
