It’s so fun and everyone is very encouraging and AMAZING!
Our Youth Ceilidhs are fun, friendly social events with energetic live music from top musicians. We welcome all 11–19 year olds to take part in the dancing, or sit back and soak up the music and good atmosphere!
The dances are easy to join in with and suitable for all levels of experience. A caller will show you the moves and use gender-free calling.
Come with your friends or on your own – ceilidhs are a great way to meet new people.
Our Youth Ceilidhs are alcohol-free events with soft drinks available in the Cecil Sharp House cafe.
What is a ceilidh?
A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a traditional social dancing event for everyone to enjoy. People are taught and guided through the dance figures by the caller. The dances are accompanied by live folk music. Often ceilidhs are danced at celebrations, festivals and community events as they are very accessible to new dancers.
When and where do the Youth Ceilidhs take place?
From time to time throughout the year at Cecil Sharp House.
