EFDSS' brand-new Local Folk Heroes award
Local Folk Heroes Awards recognise the contributions made by individuals who champion the folk arts in their communities. If you have a local folk hero working tirelessly behind the scenes and making remarkable contributions to the folk arts in your local area, then please consider nominating them for this inaugural award. They’ll be passionate about the folk arts – be it in folk dance, music or song – and committed to increasing access to them by encouraging participation, celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion.
Nominate someone for the Local Heroes Award
How do I nominate someone for an award?
Anyone can make a nomination. Nominations can be made at any time. The closing date for each year’s nominations is 31 March.
Nominations can be submitted by email to [email protected], or by post to EFDSS Local Heroes Award, c/o Cecil Sharp House, preferably using the Word doc.
You will need to submit the following information:
- Name of the person being nominated;
- Name, address, email and phone number of the person making the nomination; and
- A short summary (100 words maximum) of why the person nominated should receive the award, including a description of their contribution and how this has made a positive impact to the folk arts in your community.
Please do not inform the person you would like to nominate.
How are Local Folk Heroes selected?
Each nomination will be discussed confidentially and decided by the Senior Leadership Team and Board at EFDSS in spring of that year.
How are successful nominees informed of their new Local Folk Hero status?
We will write to the nominee in June/July asking whether they wish to accept their Local Folk Hero award.
The announcement will be announced in English Dance & Song magazine.
