Left Euston by 10.25, May seeing me off. Did not get on board until 5.45. Wrote a short note to Constance. We left dock about 9 p.m. and got into the river at 10.45 and crossed bar at about 2 a.m. Cabin on the St Louis1 very uncomfortable. My two companions both very nervous about submarines, but I slept soundly despite the very bad air & lack of efficient ventilation. Weather fine on the whole but very cold.Location
