Transcription Notes
Still fine and calm but cold. Made friends with Baker a Wiltshire Squire my saloon companion. My other mate is Mrs O’Brien — not very interesting. See a lot too of Mr Argall of Denver whom I met in the Adriatic. A very long and uneventful day. Run up to noon 199 miles. Off Queenstown at that hour although well out of sight. Calculated that we emerged from the war zone about 8 or 9 p.m. Slept very badly being nearly stifled for want of air. Came on deck at 3 a.m. for a breath of oxygen!
