The fog-horn at 2.30 a.m. ended all hope of getting into N[ew] York to day. Fog not very dense but very cold & wet. We slowed down about 10 a.m. having passed Nantucket P[oint] at 7.30. Sea still bad but considerably moderated. Still rolling rather heavily. Arrived at Coney Island, Sandy Hook in the evening and anchored off the Quarantine Station about 10 p.m.
