Called on the Hectors in the afternoon. Sunday Dec. 27. Still very cold. Spent the morning and afternoon till 4 in my room, writing and thinking out dance for Dumb Wife and learning Mound Dance etc. Then called on the Grant Squires where I had tea, meeting Mrs Brett, wife of Macmillan’s manager, Miss Mira Hall & others. Miss Hall is head mistress of a fashionable girls school at Pittsfield and half asked me to lecture to her girls. Then to supper with the Adam’s at Washington Place.
