Arrived at 1 about an hour late. Mr Campbell met me and drove me up to his house in a cart with a pair of horses. Lunched with and made the acquaintance of Mrs Campbell. Had a walk in the woods in the afternoon feeling very headachy and did some ballads with Mrs C in the late afternoon. A lovely place with a grand view of the mountains. The house is practically in a pine wood about 2 miles from the station overlooking the valley in which Biltmore station is situated. Had long talks in the evening and went to bed about 10.45. Slept well though there was a thunderstorm. Vegetation very backward. Practically no signs of Spring though the weather is so warm. Biltmore is about 2400 feet up. Answered telegram from Mason Gray of Rochester.Location
