Transcription Notes
Maud and I go down to Asheville directly after breakfast and, escorted by the Dickey, go to my Church room — a very nice one with a serviceable piano. I work there till 1, when Maud, who has been shopping, joins me and we return to lunch. I am getting on with the songs and have finished and made fair copies of 3 or 4 of them. I am feeling a good deal better but must be careful I do not make myself ill, eating too much & taking no exercise. Weather quite cold, white frosts each night now, but sunny all day — very healthy. It is a pity I am so tied to my work, but I can work under better conditions here than at the Algonquin so cannot lose my opportunity. Have a long argument, & hot one, with Scott in the evening.Location
