Wrote out Young Hunting the last of my 12 songs directly after breakfast and then went down to town with Maud — I to my dentist for repairs — she to shop. We returned in time for lunch. After tea I wrote a long letter to Constance and then began a final revision of my songs, doing 2 of them before dinner. Just before dinner heard the sad news of little Barbara Campbell’s death. How her parents will get over the shock I don’t know. I write to Mrs Campbell after dinner — a very blundering and clumsy letter as I always do on these occasions. Weather very cold indeed with an icy wind. A small covering of snow this morning. The famed American October weather hasn’t come off this year — as it did last year. However, we are warm and comfortable enough here so there is no cause to complain.Location
