Called on Schirmer’s and saw Sonneck who said his firm would take the American rights in my book, but not any others.1 They have no English house in London so perhaps it is as well. Sonneck asked me to see Putnam’s and tell them we had reached an agreement and he asked me to deliver up the MS on Monday morning. He thought I could get proofs by the end of Dec[ember] and that the book would be published by Feb[ruary]. Then to Rabold to whom I gave a lesson in folk-singing. Back to lunch and to spend a quiet day afterwards, dining at Rasotto’s and writing to Constance and to several other people in the evening. I answered Evans’s letter and had it typed and copied by Maud. Went to bed fairly early. Weather much colder to day & rather an unpleasant north wind.Location
