Weather icily cold with N.W. wind! A wonderful and very unpleasant change. After breakfast (Maud stays in bed) I draft letters to Volkert and Fox Strangways, concerning publication of my song-book in England — this takes up nearly all the morning. The Steinbergs call in the afternoon at 3.30 and we have a nice talk with them — they are staying at the Southern Madison Avenue, where the Graingers live. I go out with them — in icy cold wind - & take Car to the Dakins where I have tea and meet several people, Mrs Holt, Mrs Rouse etc, all of whom were very interested in the proceedings of last Friday evening. I return to Algonquin to find Rabold there — we dine with him in 43rd St[reet] and then he returns with us and we spend a quiet evening here, Maud & I singing several songs etc. I use my fur coat for the first time, and air thick underclothing for the morrow.Location
