Transcription Notes
Breakfast early and then to work on letters to Volkert and Fox Strangways, to Clayton concerning publication of Running Set, and finally to work on draft of application to Carnegie Institution of Washington. I finished the letters and got Maud to type them and made a big hole in the Carnegie draft. At 2 we lunched with Charlotte and Ruth Deane at 57th Street and had a very nice time there talking seriously and joking. Then we went to Seville Hotel to see Miss Leslie but missed her. On the way home I called on Whiting and asked him to lunch with me tomorrow at 1.15. On our return Miss Leslie called & gave me cards of introduction to people interested in Newfoundland. She sails for France tomorrow. In the evening Maud stood me a dinner — Thanksgiving dinner — for it is Thanksgiving Day — at Henri’s. Rabold came in after dinner & we talked till very late.Location
