Wrote hard at the Running Set all the morning until 11.30 when Maud and I went out and bought a nice gold wrist watch for Lily by way of a wedding present — 45 dollars. I came back and worked till 1, when I joined Maud at the Mary & Elizabeth where we lunched Peggy Scovill. Had a nice talk with her. I came home and rested had some tea, and then dressed — full evening figs, white waistcoat etc — had dinner downstairs and then went in William’s motor to the Coolidge’s. A very cold slippery and nerve wracking journey! Lectured quite well I think to rather an interesting audience, sang a lot of songs and pleased most of the guests I think. The Coolidge’s were very grateful I am sure though they were far from overwhelming me with gratitude which was nice. Came home in heavy snowstorm by Trolley — couldn’t stand a second edition of the motor experience. Milk and bed!Location
