Transcription Notes
Cold and snowing. Thermometer in the neighbourhood of zero. Rather small classes to start with but filled up to normal as day went on. Had a large number at class for lecture in the evening. Then had a business talk with Miss Beiderhaze. Receipts 426 dollars. Expenses heavy. She took 50 for her share, kept 50 for Society and paid Rabold>, leaving 145 only for Maudie and me. A great disappointment after such very strenuous work. We shall never make money in this country as in all such encounters as we had to day with Miss BeiderhazeI am sure to come off second best! Dined at 7 candles with Peggy, Rabold> and the Gilmans — a really pleasant symposium. They are real friends amongst the best I have made here. Almost as pleasant a symposium to follow at the Bingham’s where we met Monsieur Bonnet the well known Paris organist. He was immensely taken with our songs — made me play Ship in Distress twice. Very cold coming home — below zero.Location
