Had a fairly good night and woke up feeling a bit better but far from well. Breakfast in bed and get up in time for lunch. After a rest and an early tea get a motor to take us to Mrs Gibson’s where we spend a delightful couple of hours. I get 2 really fine songs from her. She sings in a loud rather rough voice but holds her tunes very consistently and never varies them one iota. We chat away with her and her husband and derive great enjoyment from her quaint remarks. It is very cold to day and Mr Gibson said it was because it "was new of the moon", whereupon she added "It newed last Wednesday". Mrs Gibson asked Maud if we collected the songs for money. When she was told no she remarked what "you do it just within yourselves". We walk home in a cold drizzle. I am glad of a rain coat and plenty of underclothes which I prudently put on this morning. Go to bed almost directly after dinner but take a hot bath first. We decide to stay here two or three more days. We still have new clues to test and old ones to exhaust and we are fairly comfortable — and it will take me some days to recover my strength. At present I feel as though I were convalescing after a severe illness.Location
