Weather quite fine again and getting much warmer. Motor out to Garden City to see Mrs McCormick, Mrs Godfrey’s aunt. Puncture tyre & walk the rest of the way about 2 miles. Find the old lady after much difficulty only to find that she can remember next to nothing! Motor home again to lunch in somewhat chastened mood. After tea call on the Gibsons and get a couple more songs from her and him and spend some time there. Hearing that Mrs Godfrey is sick we all go round there, the Gibsons & their nephew — a small boy to look at, but really 32 years old — going with us. Spend a half hour there very pleasantly chatting etc, I playing the piano much to the delight of the company who agree that my playing is pretty well as good as the parson’s wife’s! After dinner sit on the porch for a while till it gets cold and there write several letters, to Dor[othea] for her birthday, Schirmer, Schoen (re permission to use "A Country Farmer’s Son"). Feel rather better to day. Perhaps the warmer weather will set me up again. Decide to go on to Burnville tomorrow, so pack trunks before going to bed.Location
