Started off for Bolden’s Creek directly after breakfast taking our lunch with us. Called first on Marion Mitchell who gave us some names. Then on Mrs Hensley who sent us on to Wellesley Ray who gave us one song. Afterwards we went to his father’s and got a song from Mrs Penland. From thence we went to Mrs Ida Banks who was busy so we arranged to call upon her later on. In the meanwhile we went to Zeb Fox’s but found him out. Mrs Callaway, rather a crazy sort of person gave me 2 or 3 and then Mrs Ida Banks sang me half a dozen quite good ones. By then it was getting on for 5 so we tramped back and got home about 6 very tired, but with 10 or 11 pretty good songs as the result of our trip. The weather is quite hot again and we found the sun rather trying to day, but the evening was fairly cool. It was just lovely sitting on the verandah in our coats. There was a full moon and not any air moving, the trees being perfectly motionless. Talked with Mr Wray, our landlord, and a Mrs Barwell who comes from Savannah and knows Mrs Lowe, Mrs Storrows’s friend.Location
