Sent off more M[orning] P[ost] Articles to Mrs Aldrich (with letter) Mr Sam Hume, Feakins Miss Whitworth, Miss Perrin, Mrs Callery, Miss Gilchrist, Mrs McGregor, Prof[essor] Kleeberger, Miss Ward Hinman. Trained to Micaville by the 11.20 together with Mrs Barnwell and her boys who were leaving us for Savannah, their home. On arriving at Mr Tom [....?] cabin, found it shut, but Mr Ivey invited us to come to his house hard by. Mrs Ivey whom we had seen yesterday was lying evidently very ill, and her husband was very anxious, trying to get a doctor. As we found the difficulty was that he was unable to put the money — four dollars! — down in advance we gave it him. We waited a long time for Mrs Julie but at length about 1.30 she arrived. Then we had to wait until the School bell rang as the room was chock full of school-children. Even so, we had a large audience — far too large for our comfort — and it was very difficult satisfactorily to take down songs. Nevertheless I managed to note about 8 or 9. One of the most annoying customs of the Mountains is to recognize no privacy. Anyone may call and does when he feels so inclined!Location
