First of all I attended to my photos and took them out to the drug store man to do up & sent off 5 spools to Meyrowitz, telling him to return them to Grove Park Inn. Wrote a long letter to Constance and one to Grove Park Inn, and also to Algonquin telling them to send my letters to Asheville. Then set to work on my books and wrote up my tunes, this taking up the whole of my morning. After tea set out to find John Allen brother of Mrs Coates of Flag Pond who sang "The Knight on the Road" to me 2 years ago. Found him a most delightful old man, the father of 19 children, 9 by his first wife and 10 by the present one. He sang me some songs very musically and we foregathered most pleasantly. He said that "good singing was a great power" and when I went away remarked that he had enjoyed my visit and "considered that I was doing a noble work!" I took his photo and that of his family but it was late, about 6 p.m., and I am afraid they will not be very successful. Had a long argument in the evening with Bis Ray & a nice man of the name of Hensell. The former is a good example of the American Braggart!Location
