Transcription Notes
After breakfast set to work at my books and wrote them up to date. Then began packing & setting my papers in order. About 12 we went out to get some traveller’s cheques changed at the bank and then went to Mr Watson the Lawyer & Notary to witness Maud’s signature to a Power of Attorney. Finding him out we returned to lunch. After tea called first on Lucille Ray to say good bye and had a nice talk with her. Afterwards called on Mrs Chesebrough only to find she was out. Left a note and then to Mr Watson whom we found in this time and where Maud settled her business. The mail brought a letter from Mrs Miss[?] Elder inviting us tentatively to Tallahassee in Florida. After dinner I dictated a careful letter to her offering her the first 2 or 3 weeks in Dec[ember]. Also made up packets of "publicity material" for Berkeley and Florida, also several M[orning] P[ost] reprints for Miss Gilman. In the evening a general family party in the parlour where Maud danced Jockey [to the Fair] and where we all waltzed, Maud & I in the English manner — a sort of farewell party to us!Location
