After breakfast posted letters we had written last night and arranged with P[ost] O[ffice] about my letters also sending off packet of Maud’s treats[?] to Mrs D. Hughes. After many farewells we departed for the station at 11 Mr Wray coming down to see us off. They were genuinely sorry we we were going and we to say farewell for they have been as nice to us as they could be. The two boys William & Rush & Mr & Mrs W[ray] are first rate but the girls though nice are less interesting. We had an adventurous journey to [….?] — 15 miles which took us 3 hours only just making the connection by the skin of our teeth. The engine was not powerful enough to negotiate the curves! Arrived at Marion at 4 and were welcomed in a very friendly manner by Mr R. B. Clarke and got our old rooms for the night. Walked out after dinner to the station to see that our trunks had arrived — which they had. Had a long talk about the war with Mr Clarke over the fire and then retired to bed pretty early — about 9.15 — being very exhausted by the protracted journey!Location
