About 10.45 went to Meyrowitz to try & put matters right there and then up to Mannes School to see David Mannes. Had rather an interesting talk with him and suggested that he should dine with me tomorrow or Saturday — he promised to phone me tomorrow morning. Lunched at the Algonquin. After a rest Rabold came to tea and then I went out to call on the Dakings whom I found in and with whom I had a very pleasant talk over the tea-table. I like them both and found the talk stimulating. Farnsworth came to dine with me at the English Place while Maud went to the Gilman’s with Rabold. F[arnsworth] is not a very wise[?] person mainly because of his narrow surroundings. The average music teacher here is far below the English standard which is pretty wonderful. However, I cannot help liking him. Maud & Rabold came back about 10.30 but he only stayed for half an hour or so. I wrote one or two letters and then to bed. My head is all right to day but I am feeling rather slack — probably I miss the altitude of the mountains!Location
