Transcription Notes
Went out after breakfast at the Mary Elizabeth to do a little shopping. Then I called at Ditsons and had a long talk with Fisher and bought a copy of my Appalachian book for Howells. Lily lunched with us at the Mary Elizabeth looking very well but evidently expecting her baby pretty soon. She rested in Maud’s room while I had a nap and then after some tea we went down to the City Club for my lecture. Rather a disappointing crowd so far as quality goes though there were a few representative people — Howells unfortunately too unwell to come. After the lecture Mrs Storrows motored Maud & self to Lincoln, picking up our luggage at the Bellevue where we reserved rooms for next Monday. Had dinner at Lincoln together with several nurses convalescing after Spanish Influenza. Had a long talk with Mrs Storrows afterwards in a very pleasant friendly way and then went off to our very comfortable beds about 10 o’clock, quite tired out after a strenuous and exciting day.Location
