Breakfast rather late. Smoked my pipe while strolling along the drive in a chilly though bright & sunny atmosphere. We picked up hickory nuts from the fallen leaves for an hour or so and read a bit & so killed time till lunch, after which I rested until Margaret Edgerley arrived in her motor to take us to her house to tea. We picked up Louise Chapin on the way and found Lily and a delightful tea awaiting us. The house is a very beautiful one, better situated really than Mrs Storrows’s with a lake at the foot of the knoll upon which the house is built. We all sat round the open wood fire — very glad to have its warmth — and enjoyed a regular English tea. Mrs Storrows joined us later on and motored us back to her house. After dinner Maud and I sang some mountain songs to the nurses in the Hall and I told them about our experiences. They appeared to be interested but it was all rather outside their understanding.Location
