Had a very bad night again with my throat. I fancy it must be some sort of rheumatism or neuralgia in the muscles surrounding the trachea. The pain extends more or less all over the head especially in the right ear, and is very bad when lie down, particularly on my left side. Altogether very mysterious. Maud and I go out to meet Mrs Coolidge at lunch at the Mary Elizabeth. She seemed more provincial than heretofore and was very funny about the doings of the American Army in France, casually remarking that the Americans will never forget that their efforts at Chateau Thierry were responsible for the turn of the war and had produced the change which had ultimately led to victory!! This is the kind of thing we got used to at Burnsville but scarcely expect to hear in Boston from a "College" woman of Mrs Coolidge’s standing. I was unable to go out in the evening to take Mrs Gibb’s C[ountry] D[ance] class so Maud went in my stead. Wrote letters to Mrs Storrows, Bank and Campbell amongst others.Location
