Wrote to Miss Gilman and Mrs Callery. Did a little shopping — mainly eatables — in the morning and had an early lunch. Took the usual classes in the afternoon, but commenced an hour earlier in order to rehearse for demonstration at Normal School tomorrow. We practised, Peascods, Mage on a Cree, Black Nag, Rufty Tufty, Hey Boys & Parsons Farewell. Got them to go fairly well. After our 3-hour classes we had dinner at Duklane’s in Euclid Avenue and then went back to Y.M.C.A. to take our first morris class. Maud did most of the teaching and at the end of the class I gave them an informal talk about the dances, their significance, inwardness etc. Many of them favour my point of view but others cannot make head or tail of it! My remarks conflict with all their deeply set ideas about interpretative dancing, aesthetic, rhythmic, natural-dancing and they oppose subversive conceptions. The sentimentalism ignorance are appalling!Location
