Began with Sword Dance Class at 9.30. Found them rather stupid. Indeed the recreation class consists of girls of rather a low grade both physically & intellectually. Miss Bock is a boneless person and a thoroughly bad leader. After the class made one or two purchases and then — this being my birthday (59 years old!) Maud insisted that we should have a Liberty Lunch at the Hotel instead of a snack at the Caffeteria. Then Recreation C[ountry] D[ance] class at 1.30 and (with tea intervening) Educational people 3.30-5.30. This last 2 classes are really most satisfactory — 40 beginners in first class & 24 more advanced in the second. In the latter class to-day I taught Nonesuch & Newcastle & revised Chelsea Reach which I taught yesterday. Got home quickly, donned a dinner-jacket & then Miss Barlow (one of our students) motored us up to Miss Perrin’s where we had dinner with her and her old mother a delightful, fine[?] old lady of 86. After dinner we visited Miss Studison’s apartment and spent the remainder of the evening there. Rather dull but met rather an interesting man Capt[ain] Oakland.Location
