Slept very badly being cold. I never think the sheets on these trains are dry. Turned out at Buffalo according to the delightful custom since the war, got breakfast there and then caught the 9.30 to N[ew] York. It was a long tiresome journey difficult to bear for both of us were very very tired. And in addition I fear I have a bad head cold coming on which makes me feel rather bad, shivery etc. We arrive at 7.30 and drive to the Algonquin where we get our usual rooms on 7th floor. After a wash have some dinner, have a long talk with Case and then write letters to Hotel Statler, Miss Bock & the bank depositing some of my hard earned gains of the last week. As a matter of fact I made about 425 dollars more by 50 dollars than I have ever made before in a week. Go to bed early as I have a very busy day before me and I must do as much as possible as Thursday is Thanksgiving Day i.e. a holiday.Location
