Thanksgiving Day. Breakfast in our rooms after which I begin an article for Mrs Storrows’s girls scouts journal. Iden Payne came to lunch with us downstairs and we had a long & interesting talk with him. He shared with us ever growing sense of irritation over the American attitude as to their share in the war and the great part they propose taking in the Peace negotiations. There is a long article in this morning’s N[ew] Y[ork] Times on the subject which contains dynamite in every line. It looks to me as though serious danger lies ahead of us. Charlotte Foss came to tea, smiling & quite unrepentant, and stayed for an hour or more. We escorted her back to her home in 39th St[reet]. She is going to France in the service of the Y.M.C.A.! Possibly we may go over in the same ship — which will be very nice. Dined at Peg Woffington’s poorly but expensively. Wrote a long letter to Belden and acknowledged receipt of films & prints from Mrs W. G. C. Bradley Applegate, Cannon, Conn[ecticut].Location
