Charlotte came at 10 and we all three sallied forth to the British Consulate. There was a howling crowd there and the atmosphere was terrible, but after an hour and a half’s waiting we got what we wanted, Maud her passport and I a letter to Newcombe the U.S. agent. Thus armed we went to Rector street and got the U.S. visa greatly to our delight. Returned here at 2 and had lunch at the Plum Pudding place. Then I rested, had tea and at 6.30 we walked round to the Gilman where we spent a really delightful evening with Rabold and the Gilmans. Discussed at considerable length plans for advancing the folk-dance work after we return to England and I promised to write several letters and recommend Rabold. In the morning we went to the Cunard office but found no ship sailing that we wanted but at the White Star we debated between the Lapland on the 7th and Adriatic on the 14th. Probably will take the latter but postpone decision till Monday morning. Wrote a letter to Miss Hinman and returned MSS to her.Location
