Maud and I had breakfast early and then repaired to the station — not the Depot! — at 9.30 intending to catch the 11 train. But it took me the whole of the time getting my luggage weighed & labelled. And then there was no room to put it in the luggage van so Maud and I went on leaving Charlie to come on with the luggage by the 2 train. Mr Karpeles was at Euston and getting a taxi we 3 drove off. I left the other two at Florence’s flat and then drove to Maresfield Gardens our new house! I knew the house by the furnishing van before it. Found old Constance and Susannah awaiting me — a great meeting! They gave me tea & we talked and I tried to get warm by the fire till Joaney arrived looking very nice & well. She showed me over the house and particularly my library where she had been working putting up my books. Charlie arrived with Maud & the luggage at 7.30 in an omnibus! We spent a merry but quiet evening going to bed after midnight, thoroughly done up with the exertions of the last 2 days. Can hardly believe that we have arrived safely with our luggage.Location
