Began the school at 9.15 and the classes went very smoothly so soon as we got the various students into their proper rooms which took a little time & care. It was delightful to hear the full blooded singing at the 10.15 class after the feeble American attempts. Directly after dinner we went back to the school for a rehearsal for the demonstration which lasted till 4 p.m. Then tea and classes again I taking the demonstration team of the Running Set. Poor old Denman found it a but too much for him and asked to be relieved of the job! Shall put Miss Vinnicomb in his place tomorrow. After dinner went down to the picture gallery where Miss Kennedy, Miss Oakden, Miss Mayne & Miss Holbrow gave an account of their experiences in France, Miss Touffa Kennedy-Fraser singing very beautifully some Hebridean songs in between the recitals. It was a wonderful evening and gave me a vivid idea of the soldiers’ attitude to the dances & the yearning they had for some outlet to the other side of their natures. It all passed off magnificently.Location
