A cold clear day which was very welcome after the wet we have been having. Classes as usual in the morning. After lunch went to the Shakespeare where we had called a Comm[ittee] meeting at 2.30. Denman in the chair, present Maud & Helen, Peggy [Kettlewell] Miss Kennedy and self. Discussed many important things and got through a lot of routine work, electing new members & Associates and accepting Hickson’s resignation. It took till 4.15 when we adjourned till Sunday at 11. Had tea there & then to the school where I took the Running Set dancing myself. It is beginning to go fairly well. In the evening we all went out carolling with Chinese lanterns and Dogberry’s[?], first to the Hospital then to Marie Corelli’s and the Shakespeare finishing up with the American Y.M.C.A. We collected £4 for Miss Daking and her work in France. It was a fine night & a very enjoyable affair. We sang Wassail Song, Herod & [the] Cock, Holly & Ivy, Sunny Bank & Sons of Levi. Got back about 10.15 & went to bed an hour later I greeting the New Year as I read Benjamin Kidd in bed.1 The end of a wonderful year!!Location
