The English Folk Dance and Song Society has appointed Jen Cox as Dance Development Manager. Jen will work two days per week, starting on 4 December.
Jen has been dancing, organising and performing in the folk world since the age of 12, alongside her professional life in the care industry.
She has held officer positions in many morris teams, having been a Squire, Dance Teacher, and Secretary. She has delivered morris and folk dance workshops at festivals, and in schools and SEN settings. In 2019 she was elected as the Chair of Open Morris, having previously served as Secretary, Area Representative, and Magazine Editor. As a member of the Joint Morris Organisations committee, she has taken and active role in its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Panel.
Still more voluntary roles span many areas of folk dance and include:
Dance Co-Ordinator (for 22 years, since the festival began) for Wallingford BunkFest
Treasurer for Oxfolk Ceilidhs
Volunteer Committee member of Folk Weekend: Oxford, and MC with Live to Your Living Room.
Co-founder of Camp Clog
She is also a whistle player, singer and percussionist.
Jen says: ‘I'm honoured to have been appointed to this role, and very very excited to see what we can achieve when I begin working as part of the EFDSS team!’.
