Our Feminist Folk Club nights - organised in collaboration with Thank Folk For Feminism - have been such a success that we’re putting on a festival to mark International Women’s Day.
Announcing a spectacular line-up packed with folk stars:
Hosts Lucy Ward and Lisa Ward present…
Emily Portman
Emily recasts old ballads, fairytales and myths into new shapes and her award-winning writing breathes new life and relevance into folk stories.
Daisy Beau
Daisy gracefully intertwines late-night jazz with early-hours folk.
Jasmine Kennedy
Jasmine Kennedy is an acoustic singer/songwriter who sings from the heart; her lyrics a collection of throwaway observations and bittersweet tales which possess a remarkable power to stun an audience into silence.
Lucy and Hazel
The Sheffield-based queer folk duo charm audiences with self penned folk laced with humour, harmonies and heartache.
Nancy Kerr
An award-winning violinist, singer and composer, Nancy has been described as “one of the finest songwriters in English folk” (Songlines).
Sandra Kerr
With a long and distinguished career in traditional music and songwriting, Sandra was part of the feminist group ‘Sisters Unlimited’ for 3 decades and wrote the music for 'Bagpuss' with John Faulkner.
Sandra and Nancy are pleased to present a rare collaboration between mother and daughter, featuring new and old songs and tunes especially for this International Women’s Day at the EFDSS.
