Digitisation
Digitisation
All of the EFDSS archive collections included in The Full English project were sent away to be digitised by a document scanning company. In preparation, boxes of documents were counted and checked by EFDSS staff and volunteers so that they were accounted for and it was clear in which order the documents were to be scanned. The boxes were sent in two batches and almost all were returned within 6 months.
The digitisation of our archive partners’ collections were mostly carried out in-house. Clare College Cambridge digitised their Cecil Sharp collection, The Mitchell Library digitised its Frank Kidson collection and the British Library digitised its Ralph Vaughan Williams and Percy Grainger collections. Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre’s Alfred Williams collection was sent directly to the document scanning company whilst the Folklore Society’s Ordish collection was loaned to EFDSS and digitised alongside the EFDSS collections.
