Cabaret Melancholique is back for a summer special, an annual sell-out night of stage turns, melding the no frills atmosphere of a club with half-forgotten music hall tradition, folk pageantry and performance art gone wrong.
Previous group and solo acts have included: silent ventriloquism, werewolf smooching, orgasmic volcanoes, tartan flamenco monologues, séance conjuring, gargling bearded ladies, shortsighted shooting acts, underbelly monologues, winged eggs, saw playing ghosts and amateur bagpiping.
A distinctive element of the night is the lack of a compere to make announcements or disrupt the atmosphere: one act slouching onto stage after the other, with a virtuoso pianist at hand to improvise musical accompaniment where requested.
Doors open at 7pm, on stage at 7:30pm.
Seating is unreserved.
